Meet Our Cocks

John Hancock

Mr. J. Hancock is our Alpha rooster, meaning he’s the boss of the barnyard flock. We love J. Hancock because unlike many roosters, he’s a peacekeeper and makes sure the other low-level roosters don’t fight and/or pick on our lovely ladies. He’s part of our barnyard mix being half Jersey Giant and half English Orpington so he’s a very large bird coming it at 15 lbs.  He enjoys flock blocks, garden clippings and long walks on his leash.  J. Hancock is also our muse for the Cock Republic logo!

Oliver Cromwell

Good old Oliver is our Chocolate English Orpington rooster who protects our flock of Chocolate English Orpington hens. He’s very docile, likes cuddles and treats.

Horatio Gates

Now Horatio, what can we say about him? Horatio is our Crème Legbar Rooster. He’s always been a little small compared to the English Orpingtons and Jersey Giants so maybe he’s always felt like he had something to prove however he more than makes up for his size with personality. He’s a fighter, a little crazy at times, but we love him just the same. He has his own lovely flock of ladies who keep him in line, while he does his job and protects the flock. Horatio isn’t really a cuddler, but he’s given us hours of laughs through all his insane antics.

The Frank Brothers

William and Benjamin ......these two are a flashy pair of Jersey Giant Roosters. They spend their days strutting around and assisting John Hancock with protecting the coop. On occasion John does have to set them straight, but overall they do a great job of keeping the barnyard flock safe from outside predators.
